HISTORY OF STO. NIÑO COLLEGE OF ORMOC, INC.

Sto. Niño College of Ormoc started as Ormoc Vocational Institute of Corporation A group of fourteen (14) incorporators pooled their resources to come up with the capital needed. By 1986 the first enrolees where granted Special Orders signifying that they had graduated from their courses. Seeing that there were not so many enrolees in the vocational courses, the Board of Trustees opted to file an application to offer Kindergarten and Nursery courses in 1986. Ever since the offering of preschool classes, every year a new step has been offered until by 1994 the four-year secondary education had been recognized. It had already been a going-up each year with the opening of new courses in the tertiary level. From a two-year Associate in Arts to Bachelor of Arts, then Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English, Math, and Science, and recently the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. What started as Ormoc Vocational Institute Corporation in 1982 gradually metamorphosed to the present Sto. Niño College of Ormoc. The school is now managed by ten Board of Directors, to continue to work toward its vision, working out its mission of commitment to educate and form qualified students to become intellectually competent, morally sensitive and consciously responsive to the needs, aspirations and realization of a just and free social order, and to the principles of change necessary for the building of a strong nation rooted in justice and mantled in peace and order.
